The start of 2016 saw YEHA move from their base on the Oldpark Road to just around the corner and into rooms at the old St Gemma’s High School. After the closure of the school the building lay empty for just over 2 years and suffered damage by lack of use and exposure to the elements. The building has now been reopened and is benefiting the local area by being used as a multi function community facility. YEHA moved into several rooms at the front of the building and whilst these have sufficiently met our needs we are preparing to move again! But not far, we will just be transferring services to a different part of the building.
Work is currently being carried out to transform some old classrooms on the upper floor into a new, modern and welcoming youth space. This will incorporate a large multifunction groupwork room, smaller counselling/mentoring room, office space and eventually an outdoor area.
There will be a launch event held once the work has been completed so watch this space for details.
In the meantime if anyone would like more details on any of our services, or would like to become involved in any of our programmes, then give us a call, drop us a message or call in.
